Intel iMac, 10.5.7; MH 1.3
Just downloaded and installed Metadata Hootenany 1.3 from the site http://www.applesolu.../bantha/MH.html today. I loaded two Quicktime files that I created with VisualHub into it, then selected Special->Internet Lookup. "IMDb" was already selected, and I then clicked "Search". A few moments later, the application crashed.
Perhaps the IMDb lookup URL has changed, but why would that cause the app to crash?
Also, tried this on another Intel mac (hackintosh), with a different file, and it still crashes.

Crash log says:

*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFString deleteCharactersInRange:]: Range or index out of bounds'

Hi there,
You're right, it should not crash ;)
When a program crashes, OS X offers you to send a crash report to apple. Before you hit "send" on that report, it shows you the report. Can you please copy that report into a reply here (but don't send it to Apple) so I can find out what's going wrong.

Thank you for the quick reply. It seems as though the crash occurs only when there is a match; in other words, I tried another file, where I had mistyped the movie name, and when I searched on it, there was no crash, and no results returned.

Also, web search for chapters doesn't seem to work. No crashes, but no results returned either. Did B&N change their search interface?

Thanks for the report. I haven't had time to figure out what's wrong yet, but I will when I get a chance. I was on vacation when I posted last, and now I'm still getting caught up on work after getting back from that. The problem is probably that IMDB changed its website layout. Although I try to set up the rules so that won't cause problems like this, I don't always foresee every problem :) But you can fiddle with it yourself if you don't want to wait for me to do it, by going into the app bundle and finding the file IMDBkeys.xml and editing it yourself, if you understand the basics of xml. The "categories" object is an array of parameters to find the imdb html page, and that's what gets into trouble when the page changes. If you make any progress, maybe you can post it here for others who are waiting.

I just released a new version (1.4) that hopefully resolves this problem. You can download it here:

The trigger was that IMDB changed their search results to add some image-based links that I hadn't anticipated. Anyhow, instead of updating the search parameters (and just having them break again later), I thought it would be easier and more future-proof if the user found the right page through the web, and then drag the webpage into Metahoot (window or app icon). Please post again if you run into any more problems.
