Hello everyone, first off, pardon my ignorence, but I know nothing about audio/video decoding/encoding/converting.

I have an movie from a friends pocket PC, the pocket PC is a korean model and uses the k3g file format. I beleive this is an MP4 format, espeically considering the 3ivx codec allows meia player to play the file. However, when I play the filed in media player, there is no sound. But when I play the clip in GOM there is definitely a sound clip. I can get an audio sample of the clip in wav format through GOM, but the audio track is 27 seconds vs the video clips 28 seconds. It's not a big deal if the last second is missing, but I thought I would explain this regardless.

My question is how do I convert the k3g file to either mp4 (which I can then covert to another format). Or better yet, how do I convert the file directly to a divx, mpeg, avi or other similar format that my friends can easily watch. I would like both the audio and video information.

I don't have any pay software, currently I downloaded graphedit and I have the 3ivx codec.

Please let me know your suggestions.

you could try if installing ffdshow (http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/ffdshow) and enabling AMR audio support in the audio configuration helps,...
Once Audio&Video playback through directshow is possible convertion to xy isn't the problem.

Cu Selur

Ps.: mencoder or ffmpeg might also be able to convert the file to xy.

What's GOM?

Also, we don't have any samples of this k3g format, so if you could contact 3ivx at 3ivx.com and make arrangements to provide a sample, then we might be able to help.

Thankyou

GOM is a media player that is made in Korea. It has an english version, but as you portray, its not that popular in North America.

As for the file itself. You guys can play around with it by downloading it here:

Yes, the movie is of me being a random idiot, but hey, I'm talking about high level science while doing so!

extracting video and remuxing it into an mp4 works fine with mp4box, VLC player can playback the clip, but it seems like it can't handle the audio which is stereo 'sqcp' at 32KB/s.

How would I go about converting the video and audio?

Sorry, I got no clue how to handle the audio stream. :(
maybe JetAudio can help there, they post in their changelog:

Quote

Handles MP4 file extension (3gp, 3g2, k3g) in DirectShow

see: http://www.cowonamer...etaudio_rn.html
So this might enable graphedit to handle the file,...

k3g files are the same as 3gpp... the only difference is in the suffix ...download quick file remaner .and rename the files u had aploaded from your mobile to your pc ..from(for exemple) :motion001.k3g-- to -- motion001.3gpp..you will notice that the type of the file has changed from k3g to become 3gpp ...you can use p2p programs to download the video converter of your choice that does support 3gpp ....
but the problem is when you want to convert any video files to k3g .....you will need xvideo converter or x4live converter to convert (for exemple avi---to ---3gpp) than u have to rename the 3gpp file to k3g ...
its not easy just because the x4live converter needs some settings to get the exact format of k3g file...
sorry i couldnt post pictures to expalain how the process happens ...
if u need the coneverter and the method of the setting of the converters ....just email me at ali9mali@yahoo.com
