Saving as .srt

hi, I was wondering , is there any way to, after syncronizing the subtitles save them as .srt or any format that would let me open them with VLC.  Because I don't like adding the subtitles to quicktime, instead of managing the black box I prefer adding them manually to the movie with VLC

Yep, it would be great if one can save the subtitle as .srt too!!!
